VW ad pulled over animal welfare

VW ad with the shivering Jack Russell pulled | the Daily Mail

So. We cannot accept that dogs can be made to appear to be doing something they are not. Couldn’t we pull the advert over it being misleading? “VW does not make dogs sing shock”. “Dog in VW advert not a man, it is a dog”.

Ironically, this is the dog that did some pretty unbelievable stuff in ‘Son of Mask’.

If we are to pull the advert, how about the main conceit of the damn thing? You are only safe inside this car. Stay in the car and you will be safe. Step outside and all those nightmares will come and get you. You will piss yourself in a bank if you get out of the car.

What is the main ‘character’ afraid of? Hoodies? Illegal immigrants? And just how is a VW going to make you feel so shit about not being in it? Is it addictive? Will you have withdrawal symptoms and need to go cold turkey?

This ad was just another crass advert selling the dream of safety. Maslow would be proud.
